OPTrust Board announces new Chair and Vice-Chair
Posted: November 1, 2024TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2024 – As part of OPTrust’s governance structure, one Government appointee and one OPSEU appointee fill the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair, with the roles alternating between Government and OPSEU appointees every two years.
Richard Nesbitt was named Chair of OPTrust’s Board of Trustees, effective Nov. 1, 2024, replacing former Chair Lindsey Burzese, who remains on the Board. Richard was first appointed to the Board in September 2019 by the Government of Ontario and is now Chair of the Board and Governance and Administration Committee. He was previously Vice-Chair and Chair of the Investment Committee.
Richard is an adjunct professor at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics in the U.K., where he chairs the research institute The Inclusion Initiative.
Ram Selvarajah was named Vice-Chair of OPTrust’s Board of Trustees and Chair of the Investment Committee, effective Nov. 1, 2024. He recently served as Chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee. OPSEU named Ram to the Board in April 2021. He is a senior systems analyst with the Ministry of the Solicitor General and has more than 20 years’ experience in the Ontario Public Service.
