OPTrust named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for second year running
Posted: October 7, 2008October 7, 2008 – The OPSEU Pension Trust has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2009. This marks the second year in a row that OPTrust has been selected for the award, which is sponsored by MacLean’s magazine.
“It is an honour to be recognized again as one of Canada’s leading employers,” said Heather Gavin, OPTrust’s Chief Administrative Officer and Plan Manager.
“At OPTrust, our staff is critical to our success in delivering the finest service to our members and retirees, and managing the Plan’s investments to ensure the long-term security of our pension promise,” Gavin said. “This award reflects our commitment to attracting and retaining a skilled and dedicated workforce.”
Candidates for the Canada’s Top 100 Employers awards are identified based on an initial survey of more than 75,000 employers. Of these, more than 2,000 employers submitted detailed questionnaires.
Winners are selected by the competition’s independent organizers based on their ranking in eight key areas. These include: health, financial and family benefits; work atmosphere; employee communication; training and skills development; and community involvement.
“Our commitment to our staff goes well beyond providing competitive salary and benefits,” said Gavin. “That’s why we offer ongoing support for training and professional development, an employee wellness program, and time off and resources to help them achieve a healthy balance between their work and family lives.”
