The Government of Ontario appointed Robert Plamondon to the Board of Trustees in January 2019. Robert became Chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee, effective Nov. 1, 2024.
Robert is a consultant, board member, economist, historian and author. He has extensive expertise in strategic planning, organizational transformation, performance management, finance and public policy.v
Robert was appointed as an external member of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Audit and Oversight in 2021. He also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Ontario Internal Audit Committee. Robert served of the board of the National Capital Commission (2014 – 18) where he was Chair of the Audit Committee, member of the Executive Committee and was elected Interim Chair. Robert was Treasurer of the Sierra Club of Canada. He supports the Professional Development Institute for the University of Ottawa where he serves as the Director of the Comptrollership Leadership Development and Next-Gen Digital Leadership programs. He has taught at three Canadian universities at the undergratuate and graduate levels.v
Robert has led governance evaluations for VIA Rail Canada, Export Development of Canada and the governance regime for Canada’s national debt under the shared authority of the Bank of Canada and Finance Canada. He’s a past advisory board member of the National Portrait Gallery and a bestselling author who supports school literacy programs. Robert is a Fellow CPA, Fellow CA and a Certified Director from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has completed Institute of Corporate Directors workshops and programs on environmental management and sustainability reporting.
